How do I choose my glasses?

Corrective glasses help us in our daily life when our eyesight is not working properly. Thanks to properly selected glasses we can alleviate the discomfort associated with poor vision. In the old days, wearing glasses was a shame. Today, frames are one of the most fashionable accessories for every hairstyle. Corrective glasses have become so fashionable that they are worn even by people with no visual impairment with the so-called "zero-zero" glasses. Where to buy corrective glasses and how to choose the right glasses for your face?

Perfectly fitting face-to-face corrective glasses

The corrective glasses, in addition to the appropriately selected glasses, should have frames that match the shape of the face. Of course, preferences such as the colour, material or style of the spectacle frames are important for our well-being, for example. Check which frames will fit your face:

  • oval - people with this facial shape can wear most of the eyewear frames. The square and rectangular shapes will add contrast to the rounded face. It is important to keep the right proportion. The frames should be the same width as our face or at least wider so as not to disturb the normal balance;

  • round - the frames fit angular, rectangular and so-called cat. These shapes will make your face optically longer. You can also wear frames that are thicker at the top or have no bottom at all. Round and oval-shaped glasses will not fit on this face;

  • triangular - for such a face we have to choose frames with rounded shapes, which will give the round face harmony and gentleness. Thin-rimmed glasses will fit perfectly, as well as frameless models;

  • square - slightly rounded frames or glasses without frames will be best. These glasses will make your face optically longer and rounder.

Anti-reflection or non-reflection glasses?

Once we know what power our corrective glasses must have and we decide to choose glasses, we should consider whether we want glasses with anti-reflection. This coating reduces light reflections from the eyepiece lens, thus improving visual comfort. Therefore, they are recommended for people who spend more time in front of the computer. Depending on the company, anti-reflective coatings differ in their residual reflection colour as seen by the outside world. We can get the reflection from light green, through purple, to blue. There are also anti-reflexes without visible reflection colour. In addition, the coating makes the glasses easy to clean and is less prone to scratches.

Where can I buy corrective glasses?

We can buy corrective glasses with a certain glass power in any shop. Unfortunately, buying such glasses is not safe due to the equal power of lenses for both eyes. To buy the right glasses, we have to go to an optical salon, where an experienced optometrist will measure our vision impairment. When we have the power of the glasses, we can start looking for the glasses. Corrective glasses can also be ordered in an online shop, where the selection of different models is much larger than in a stationary optical salon.
