Vitamin C - cold-throat conqueror

Vitamin C for resistance

Ever since you were a child, your parents have taught you that if you feel that a disease is coming, you need to drink tea with lemon quickly. Why? Because this fruit contains a lot of vitamin C. So what are its properties and why should we take care of the right amount of it in our body?

Vitamin C is otherwise known as ascorbic acid. Practically every person knows that it is responsible for the immunity of our body. However, scientists have proven that it is not a cure to overcome the disease more quickly. Vitamin C, on the other hand, can prevent it, because taking it prophylactically reduces the risk of a cold even by half!

Vitamin C, queen of immunity and youth

Vitamin C is not only responsible for our resistance. Its other property will be of particular interest to ladies, as it is responsible for slowing down the aging process. It stimulates the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and inhibits the processes destroying collagen and elastin in the skin, making it properly moisturized and firm. In addition, it influences the production of vitamin E, which ensures women's eternal youth. Are these still not enough reasons to take care of the right amount of this vitamin in our body?

Vitamin C

The winning wild rose!

Contrary to appearances, most vitamin C is not found in lemon. It was quite by chance that it entered the pedestal when it came to improving immunity, hiding a wild rose in its shade, which contains as much as eight times more of this precious supplement than the famous yellow, sour fruit. Lemon is also won by underestimated peppers or black currants, which can boast more than three times its content.

However, during the autumn-winter period, when it gets very cold outside and everyone starts to snort, it is worthwhile to help yourself with an extra dose of ascorbic acid. Vitamin preparations, such as Vita C, which are highly assimilable and easy to take can help you. However, it is advisable to consult your doctor beforehand and find out what doses you should take.

How do you recognize vitamin C deficiency?

Vitamin C deficiency primarily interferes with the functioning of the whole organism - the immunity decreases, and consequently, there is a greater risk that we will catch a cold. In addition, it also leads to the formation of scurvy, a multi-organ disease characterized by spontaneous bleeding or tooth loss. Deficiency of vitamin C, responsible for iron absorption, also leads to anaemia. But how do we deduce that we are eating too little of this vitamin? The basic symptoms of its deficiency are: weakness, muscle and joint pains, tendency to bruises, difficulties with wound healing or loss of appetite.

Vitamin C is a well-known supplement for colds. However, its primary task is to prevent them. Let's take care of the right amount of it, especially in winter, when vegetables and fruits don't taste as good as in summer. It is therefore worthwhile to use proven pharmacological preparations in the form of tablets, capsules or liquids.
